Propensities are weaknesses of man that have taken hold of the individual without his being conscious of, and have no control over, but must answer to its call at every demand. Beware the clever way propensity sets in and gains a foothold over you. It creeps into man so gently without being aware of it and becomes lord over him. Let me narrate to you today a story in line with this, based on a particular kind of propensity.
Once Upon a time, there lived a little girl growing in an unpleasant surrounding, where she found no happiness. She was always sad, even to the point of depression. She grew and grew without a single joy in the heart. Now came the time for her to get married. Unfortunately for her she chose also wrongly and still in marriage she found no happiness of any kind. She wondered why life could be so cruel to her. One day a thought suddenly occurred to her that her happiness actually lies in her hands after all, so she decided with whatever it takes to make herself happy, she would do. She took into using all the money that comes her way to purchase jewelries, clothes, and all the earth could offer as per her choice in the buying. Anytime she buys these things, she felt so happy on the new things added to her lot. She checked them over and over again and again and derived satisfaction and happiness from such acts.
Suddenly recognition caught up with her, after so many years it finally dawned on her that she buys even what she does not need, she then decided to put a stop to this act which had become a big propensity to her. She tried and tried but to no avail, the urge remained like a brick wall to her, she could no longer help herself or get rid of it. See how cleverly this propensity had set in. It is a slippery slope that gets one entangled in a very strong web which is not easy to come out of. When looking for happiness take heed. Take to good habits and not the bad ones.
Propensities of any kind debars ascent to a light region after an earthly death if it accompanies one to the beyond without being relieved of it and then becomes a big burden. After an earthly death, when one enters the beyond with lots of propensities, all have to be expiated one after another. No sooner one is overcome than the next most prominent approaches and automatically draws one to that region of homogeneity. Until one is finally free from all, then suddenly drawn to a light realm.
Earthly death is a certainty for all. It approaches each individual day by day hour by hour. With every passing day on earth it draws nearer for all. In the knowledge of the Lord's Will therein lies the wisdom. Therefore, waste no more time in working on your weaknesses. Propensities takes longer to expiate in the beyond. It could be decades or even probably centuries because one is drawn to a homogeneous ground where only the bad dwells, where all are alike. This makes it slower there to get rid of the propensity.
Here on earth the good and the bad dwells together, where there is the possibility of an enlightenment from the good. It is only here you can shake off all your propensities faster. Search yourself here now to detect all the propensities you still harbor within you while on earth. So therefore be warned and take heed.
Anytime you find yourself in an unpleasant, unhappy situation never take to a habit of base materialism but spiritual. Have an urge for only the spiritual which will never be of any harm to you in any form. Have an urge to delve more into the Word of the Lord. Listen to plenty of light and uplifting music. Have an urge to do good to your fellow human being, urge to work on yourself to the best you can before the Lord. Finally, the urge always for the good. When found in this web of propensities while here on earth there is still hope for you, though now it requires a great struggle. Start by striving only towards all that is Noble and High in words, thoughts and deeds. Mind the company you keep. Move only with those who uplift you and not debase you so as to possess and maintain a pure heart always which would give you the ability to bring into being your prayers, then when you pray you will receive the needed strength to overcome this propensity. All the help you need shall then be afforded you through the mercy of the Lord. You will suddenly become free of it without being aware of it.
Finally, let me address still further comprehensively. Propensity enchains and enslaves man's free volition. Do not tolerate them at all. Quicken your steps towards this - work on your propensities and be free from them one by one until you are finally rid of all. Then you can swing upwards to the Light undisturbed.
These propensities if not rid off can also make one earthbound when one passes over to the beyond. He binds himself through the propensity for something which is upon earth. He is thus held back from further ascent, but when the Lord is put above all else, with this he takes with him the reverential love for God only. This then supports him and finally bears him into Paradise, the abode of the Free Spirits - cleansed of all guilt. This is my loving wish for you.
