The things of the mind are of immense power over man, which comprises of the thought and will of man before leading to the action - the deeds of man. The mind of a human being plans his ways. Yes, it does but one can still be in charge of ones being except the subconscious mind is hidden and not utilized. That is a treasure placed in man – the intuition. If it is inactive, one can easily get confused with feeling. When the intuition is alive and utilized, one can be in control of the mind and can direct it only towards the noble and high. The intuition knows of no alternative. Do not let anything affect your subconscious mind. Guard against this and get hold of your mind at last oh man.
Bring your intuition alive so that it can guide you rightly. If not guided aright in the way of the Lord, where all the help needed to do it right is available for man. These things of the mind take the grip of man and direct his path wrongly. Therefore you must continually reflect, way and examine all the time so that you may not be put in trouble even in the earthly sense not to even mention the spiritual implications. You must sift and select whatever passes through the mind and be sure it is of a good nature. That alone should take hold of your mind. I wish you this. This is easier for adults than the younger ones due to the level of their spirits. While still young, they stand predominantly in the animistic.
So therefore, let children be children. Do not expose them early to things of the grownups. Let them follow the Lord’s natural process. My story of today is based upon the things of the mind that got the grip of a young boy of five which almost put the mother into trouble. The name of the boy was David. Anything he wants he gets. I'll be mentioning a particular instance here. Once the mother embarked on a journey with this young boy called David. This happened at the airport of a foreign country. Little David saw a transformer toy to be precise, the image of which he has seen previously on the television. He now saw the same in one of the duty free shops at the airport. So real to him this time he could not resist.
It caught his attention. He stopped for a long time staring at it while the mother waited with him. After some time, the mother took him away from the store and she entered still into several other duty free shops of her choice. The mother held little David’s hand. On getting to a shop of utmost interest to the mother, she forgot herself for a while and she let go of little David’s hand. The mother did not know that little David had moved almost to the exit of the store before another customer alerted her. She immediately got hold of his hands again. Now David and the mother left the perfume store to move to their gate of boarding. Not long David’s mother was not aware when little David’s hand slipped off again.
This time, the mother panicked because it was almost time for boarding. She looked left and right, but little David was nowhere to be found. Her heart was now raising. She was perplexed. She walked the length and breadth of the airport transit lounge, but still David was nowhere to be found. “what will I do?” David’s mother thought who will she talk to? What will she say? In a foreign land? She was disturbed. If she reported the case, announcement will be made. Police might even be involved. What a commotion? She was confused. She suddenly gazed up to pray to the Lord for direction. Not long, an idea occurred to her to check the store little David had earlier seen the transformer toy.
David’s mother quickly rushed there because it was a bit far from the boarding gate. There she found little David staring at the toy he loved so much. Amazingly no anger emerged from the mother to David, instead she picked him up. She laughed and thanked the Lord in gratitude for directing her there to find little David. She was overwhelmed with joy, finding David admiring his toy. Anguish and Sorrow suddenly vanished and turned to deepest joy again. The mother in order to show how deep her gratitude was to the Lord. Though she didn't have much money with her, notwithstanding she squeezed out of the little she had and decided to give joy to her son David. So she bought the toy for him.
David was so overjoyed, happy, and he held the toy to his chest tightly. They both now quickly rushed to catch their flight. On arrival to their destination, David’s mother narrated the story to the rest of the family, and all gave gratitude to the Lord for finding David again and on time to catch the flight. See how all the things of the mind affects us, even for the little boy of five. See how powerful it can be. It is like a force that grips one strongly. Little David loved the toy too much and went in search of it regardless of the outcome. Also the mother was so occupied with herself in the perfume store because of her love for it that she was unaware of the disappearance of David.
So guard always against the things of the mind that grips one so strongly. Never let the things of the mind get the grip of you. Note when it is right or wrong. Reflect, weigh and examine to make a better decision always only towards the noble and high.
